Former Premier League winger Trevor Sinclair recently joined Jim White and Simon Jordan on TalkSPORT and spent some time talking about the possibility of ex-Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe replacing under pressure Celtic boss Neil Lennon.

Celtic have managed to win just one of their last eight games in all competitions, losing four of them. Additionally, their most recent loss, which came in Thursday’s UEFA Europa League clash with Sparta Praha, saw the Hoops get knocked out of Europe

Which club did Brown join Celtic from?

Given their current poor run of form, perhaps it’s no surprise that some supporters of the Glasgow club have been calling for the manager to be sacked and on the topic of potential replacements for Lennon if that happens, Sinclair indicated that he thinks Howe would be a good selection for the position, though he did also question whether or not the 42-year-old would want to move to Scotland, saying:

“For me, it’s an attractive candidate. He plays a great brand of football. Not last year, obviously they got relegated, Bournemouth, but in general, I thought he managed that team very well.

“He’s a young manager who’s got ambition, I feel he could really stimulate that squad with his different ideas – we’ve seen Jamie Carragher talking to Eddie about the set-pieces and how intricate they are and how much they’re well-drilled.

“I feel he could do a good job if he went up there. The question is, has he got the [guts] to go north of Burnley? This is what my problem is. He went up to Burnley, he didn’t last two minutes, he likes it on the south coast, he’s got a family – is he prepared to give that lifestyle up?”

TIF Thoughts on what Sinclair had to say about Howe…

While Celtic’s decision-makers still reportedly back Lennon, perhaps that could all change if the Northern Irishman fails to help the Glasgow club to end their current spell of poor form.

If so, then perhaps Howe should be high up on their list of potential replacements, given how successful he was during his time at Bournemouth, with the Englishman guiding the south coast club from League Two all the way to the top flight

The coach has stated that it would take “something that really motivated” him to get him to return to management and even though Sinclair seems to think that the Hoops might struggle to attract Howe if they were to target him, we feel that the prospect of helping Celtic to win what would be a historic 10th straight Scottish Premiership title would surely be enough of a draw to convince Howe to take the job.

As a result, perhaps Howe and the Hoops would be a good fit for one another, should Lennon end up departing from Parkhead.
