West Ham United insider @ExWHUemployee has listed Nikola Milenkovic as a potential centre-back target for the Hammers in the January transfer window.

During the recent transfer window, it was claimed that the Irons had made a £20m offer to secure the services of the Serbian defender (per Daily Mail).

In the end, David Moyes’ side ended up signing Craig Dawson from Watford on a season-long loan with the option to make the move a permanent one (per BBC).

However, a recent report by Calciomercato.it has claimed that the player is eyeing a move away from Fiorentina but clubs such as Inter, AC Milan, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Atletico Madrid are keeping tabs.

During the latest episode of The West Ham Way Podcast, @ExWHUemployee discussed possible defensive reinforcements and suggested that the Hammers could make a move for Milenkovic in January.

Who did West Ham United face in their opening fixture of the 2020/21 Premier League season?

He said: “Another centre-back that we looked at in the [recent] window was Nikola Milenkovic at Fiorentina.

“He’s refusing to sign a new contract at the moment and it could be that we could go back in for him as well.

“None of this is confirmed at this point, but it does mean that these options are probably more available in January than they were in the summer.”

TIF Thoughts on what @ExWHUemployee said about Nikola Milenkovic…

As can be seen in what the in-the-know podcaster had to say, he believes that the Hammers could have a better chance of signing the centre-back in January than they did in the last transfer window.

Would you like to see the Hammers sign Nikola Milenkovic in January?

So far this season, the 23-year-old Serbian has made six appearances for Fiorentina in Serie A in which he has scored once and assisted once (per WhoScored).

The defender has also picked up an impressive 7.08/10 average rating over the six outings which has made him their third-best performer in the league.

So, while there are big-name clubs linked with Milenkovic, if he could be tempted to the London Stadium, he would seemingly be a good signing for Moyes’ outfit.
