The Athletic’s West Ham United correspondent Roshane Thomas has suggested that Jarrod Bowen could be dropped to make way for Said Benrahma.

So far this season, Bowen has made eight Premier League appearances for the Hammers, in which he has scored three goals (per WhoScored).

Over those eight outings, the £25.2m-rated winger has earned a 6.67/10 average rating which has made him West Ham’s 10th-best performer over the duration of the season so far.

During the recent transfer window, David Moyes bolstered his options on the wing by recruiting Benrahma from Brentford, however, the Algerian has made just two substitute appearances for the Irons in the league.

In the latest episode of The Athletic’s U Irons podcast, Thomas claimed that Bowen could be dropped by Moyes when discussing where Benrahma fits in the team.

Who did West Ham United face in their opening fixture of the 2020/21 Premier League season?

Having praised the Algerian’s cameo at the weekend, Thomas said: “Moving forward, it’s a good conundrum for David Moyes, because on the wing he’s got [Pablo] Fornals on the left and Bowen on the right.

“Everyone actually thinks it’s going to be Fornals who’ll lose his place in the team, but I’m sort of saying, obviously Bowen’s a great player for us, but he’s sort of struggled over the past few weeks, hasn’t been able to have a real impact.

“He is a player you could think and say, ‘Hey, he could be dropped as well.’ It’s not just going to be Fornals.”

TIF Thoughts on what Roshane Thomas said about Jarrod Bowen being dropped for Said Benrahma…

As can be seen in what the journalist had to say, he believes that there is a possibility that Moyes could drop Bowen for Benrahma at some point.

If one had to be dropped in favour of Said Benrahma, who would you rather it was?

Bowen

Fornals

Fornals

Despite Bowen’s average rating so far this term, Fornals has been marginally better than the Englishman.

Over eight top-flight outings, the Spaniard has earned a 6.74/10 average rating, which has made him the Irons’ ninth-best performer in the league.

So, if one of them is going to be dropped in favour of Benrahma, then it will certainly be a tight call for Moyes to make.
