West Ham United insider @ExWHUemployee has claimed that David Moyes will not have a large amount of funds available to him in January.

During the summer transfer window, the Hammers sealed the arrival of just two players on a permanent basis and two further players on loan (per Transfermarkt).

The two players which arrived on loan were Said Benrahma and Craig Dawson, meanwhile, both Tomas Soucek and Vladimir Coufal arrived on permanent deals from Slavia Prague.

In terms of outgoings, four players were sold for transfer fees and those were Josh Cullen, Jordan Hugill, Albian Ajeti and Grady Diangana.

During the latest episode of The West Ham Way Podcast, @ExWHUemployee discussed the January transfer window and claimed that Moyes may not have a lot of funds available.

Who did West Ham United face in their opening fixture of the 2020/21 Premier League season?

Having referenced links between the Hammers and a possible £3.5m move for Philadelphia Union left-back Kai Wagner, the Irons insider claimed the aforementioned sum would be in and around what West Ham can expect their January budget to be, saying: “I don’t believe we’re going to have a big budget in January, as per.

“Mainly because they’re already making the excuses that we’re still financially in a bit of trouble.

“So, if we are going to sign anyone, it’s going to be that sort of fee [£3.5m].”

TIF Thoughts on what @ExWHUemployee said about West Ham’s January budget…

As can be seen in what the in-the-know podcaster had to say, he believes that Moyes may not have a big transfer fund available to him during the January transfer window.

Do West Ham need to do a lot of recruitment in January?

No, it's not necessary

Yes, I think we need to

Yes, I think we need to

However, the Hammers may be best served bringing in a few new recruits during the winter window as the Hammers’ squad looks slightly lacking in some areas.

So far this season, Moyes has played a formation with three centre-backs in seven of their eight Premier League fixtures (per Transfermarkt).

That is despite the fact there are only four out-and-out centre-backs in the senior squad, so, they may be left without cover if one of them picks up an injury.

Furthermore, there is only one out-and-out left-winger and two out-and-out strikers in the squad, so, the Irons could again be left struggling in those positions if injuries occur.

So, hopefully, the owners of the London Stadium club find some funds to improve their squad depth in January.
