West Bromwich Albion podcaster Chris Lepkowski has been sharing his criticism for Baggies winger Matheus Pereira.

This comes after Lepkowski recently made an appearance on West Brom-themed podcast The Liquidator in which he reflected on the club’s 2-0 defeat to Fulham on Monday.

How well do you remember the action from the opening weekend of the Premier League? - 1. Who scored the first goal of the season?

During the episode, Lepkowski had this to say on Pereira’s display in the defeat at Craven Cottage.

He said: “I felt there was little from [Grady] Diangana and Pereira. I thought that they were both very poor – Pereira particularly, as he hasn’t really adjusted as easily as I thought and many thought he would to the Premier League, he looked a little bit out of sorts, I thought.”

The 24-year-old, who is currently valued at £11.7 million, signed to West Brom on a season-long loan deal from Sporting Lisbon in the 2019 summer transfer window.

Then in August this year, West Brom signed Pereira on a permanent basis for a fee of £7.43 million.

Last season, the Brazilian managed to score eight goals and provide 20 assists in 43 appearances for Slaven Bilic’s side. This season, the winger has scored one goal and provided two assists for his teammates in the seven Premier League games he’s played in so far (per Transfermarkt).

Pereira’s performances in those seven league appearances have earned him a season rating of 6.72/10. His performance against Fulham, however, earned him a disappointing match rating of 5.75/10 (per WhoScored).

TIF Thoughts on Chris Lepkowski’s comments on Pereira…

Listening to what Lepkowski had to say on Pereira and his performance against Fulham, as well as the match rating he got for it, it’s clear that the Brazilian didn’t have his best game for West Brom against Scott Parker’s side on Monday.

The best thing Pereira can do now would be to put this match behind him and focus on improving his game for West Brom’s next league match against Tottenham Hotspur.
