Spurs fans on Twitter have been reacting angrily to a tweet from ESPN journalist Mark Ogden, in which he apologises for some comments he made regarding Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane.
The journalist was speaking on a video for ESPN about the England captain after he entered the top 10 all-time goalscorers list for the Premier League with his goal against Brighton on Sunday night. However, in what seems to have been an error from ESPN, some footage of Ogden mocking Kane’s speech impediment was posted on YouTube before being deleted. However, Spurs fan Roger Hurst was among those who posted the footage onto Twitter, which has understandably provoked an angry reaction from a lot of Lilywhites supporters.
The journalist has subsequently taken to Twitter to apologise for his actions, writing:
“An inappropriate conversation with our producer was accidentally posted publicly for a short time before being taken down. Our comments were clearly disrespectful and regrettable. We have the utmost respect for @HKane, a consummate professional and role model to youngsters.”
Should Ogden be sacked?
Yes
No
So how did these Spurs fans react to Ogden’s apology for his Harry Kane comments?
Both should be sacked! Utter disgrace!

Simply not good enough, nor is this embarrassment of an ‘apology’.

People who act with respect wouldn’t have that conversation off air, either. The fact you admit it was disrespectful and then claim to have respect for Harry is moronic, at best.
You’re just sorry you were caught.

They weren’t just disrespectful comments, they were discriminatory. Imagine young fans hearing the way you talk behind the scenes about a man with a speech impediment. The only reason you’re apologising is because you got caught.

Embarrassing attempt at an apology. I’ve cancelled my @ESPNFC subscription. pic.twitter.com/9g4uEQ8ooR

Guess it would’ve been okay if it wasn’t ‘accidentally posted’? Even the apology is complete rubbish.

These Spurs fans clearly aren’t happy with this apology from Ogden and feel that he is only apologising because he was caught. We agree that his comments were incredibly disrespectful to Kane, who is not only a brilliant footballer but also a brilliant role model as England captain, so it is really disappointing that Ogden was mocking him.
