Many Tottenham Hotspur supporters have flocked to social media in order to respond to a Twitter post from @Daily_Hotspur in which they shared a report, initially from the Mirror’s John Cross claiming Toby Alderweireld faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines after picking up an injury during the win over Manchester City.
The Lilywhites defeated Pep Guardiola’s side 2-0 at the weekend, thanks to goals from Heung-min Son and Giovani Lo Celso but the only negative was the injury suffered by the Belgian, which led to him being substituted and replaced by Joe Rodon with nine minutes remaining (as per BBC Sport).
How have these Spurs fans reacted to the update regarding Alderweireld’s injury?
Keep Sanchez away from the team please.

Based on the above responses, it’s clear the majority of these fans were disappointed to learn they could be without the defender for a ‘lengthy’ period of time. The 31-year-old defender has appeared six times in the Premier League so far this season and according to WhoScored, his average performance rating has been a solid 6.92/10.
It remains to be seen whether that will mean more opportunities for Joe Rodon, the 23-year-old Spurs signed from Swansea City during the summer transfer window, or if Davinson Sanchez will be preferred as Alderweireld’s deputy.
