During the latest episode of the Extra Inch podcast, Chris Miller, Nathan Clark and Bardi have been discussing the latest goings-on at Tottenham Hotspur, with a focus on the 2-1 win against Brighton and Hove Albion last weekend.

One topic of discussion in the recent episode, which was titled: ‘Bridging‘, was journalist Mark Ogden, and the video that emerged on social media of him and another ESPN journalist mocking Harry Kane, after he moved into the top 10 all-time Premier League goalscorers list. Ogden can be seen mocking Kane’s speech impediment, and he later took to Twitter to apologise for his actions, although those on the podcast don’t seem to think that the ‘apology’ was genuine.

How well can you remember Spurs' season so far? 1. Who is Spurs' top scorer in all competitions so far this season?

Here’s what Clark had to say about the incident during the podcast:

“We see all sorts of nasty, nasty video impressions of Kane. It’s just really mean and unnecessary.”

He then discusses Ogden’s ‘apology’, saying:

“Ogden wrote this apology tweet, or two tweets, and it’s really badly written. He claims that he has the utmost respect for Kane, which is completely obviously the opposite of the truth. That’s not an apology, because it’s so blatantly dishonest. He apologises to Kane, Spurs, Spurs fans and ESPN viewers but not to people with speech impediments, which again [are] for me, the main [victims] of having to see this kind of stuff.”

TIF Thoughts on Clark’s view of the Ogden video mocking Harry Kane and the journalist’s Twitter apology:

We agree with Clark’s cynicism regarding Ogden’s apology tweet, as if he has ‘the utmost respect for Harry Kane‘, why was he mocking him in the first place?

What did you make of Ogden's apology?

Good enough, time to move on

Good enough, time to move on

It was a load of rubbish

It is strange that the journalist chose to bring up the England captain’s speech impediment when surely the focus should be on his achievement of breaking into the top 10 all-time top scorers in England’s top-flight, as well as his superb start to the 2020/21 campaign, which has seen him register six goals and eight assists in just seven Premier League appearances (per WhoScored).
