Spurs fans on Twitter have been reacting to some footage of Harry Kane being interviewed by Sky Sports following the controversial decision to award the Lilywhites a penalty in the recent 2-1 win against Brighton and Hove Albion.
During the interview with Sky Sports, which was shared with Lilywhites supporters via Last Word On Spurs, the England captain suggested that VAR backed up referee Graham Scott’s initial decision that it was a foul on the striker by Adam Lallana, rather than the other way around. The 27-year-old has faced some criticism recently, with Martin Keown suggesting it was dangerous play by the forward on Match of the Day 2 (as per Daily Mail).
The Spurs academy graduate picked himself up to score the penalty against Graham Potter’s side in the 2-1 victory, which takes his tally to six Premier League goals in just seven appearances, with the striker having also contributed eight assists, leading to him averaging a superb 8.37/10 rating in his top-flight performances so far this season (per WhoScored).
Should Kane have to explain his actions?
Yes
No, it should be the referee if anyone
So, how did these Spurs fans react to Kane’s interview about the penalty decision?
Sky having another dig at us… Shouldn’t be surprised really. Let them carry on, it will only drive us on #COYS

Shouldn’t have to defend himself, wasn’t even a dive! You don’t see Salah having to face these questions when he blatantly dives, it’s a joke, the lack of respect Kane gets

Having to defend himself about a knee and elbow in the back?! What a joke! Any other player people would be saying how clever the play was

Shouldn’t have to answer to anyone. Long live the king

Why does he have to attempt to justify a decision made by officials?
— Ray (@Rayyoung55) November 3, 2020
Why is Kane having to answer these type of questions? Does any other player get asked how they won penalties. It’s unprecedented and it’s wrong.

Overall, it seems clear that the majority of Spurs fans believe that Kane shouldn’t have to explain his actions that led to the penalty and feel that if anyone has to answer questions on it, it should be the referee.
