Richard Cracknell, Jamie Brown, Lee McQueen and Antony Costa discussed all of the latest Tottenham Hotspur news during the most recent edition of the Last Word On Spurs podcast and McQueen spent some time talking about the future of Lilywhites centre-back Davinson Sanchez during the podcast.

Sanchez has made 10 appearances in all competitions for the Lilywhites this season, however, the Colombian centre-back was left out of Tottenham’s squad for each of their last four Premier League games and it may be fair to say that he has failed to impress in the four top-flight games that he has featured in this term, with the £40.5m-rated man earning an overall WhoScored rating of just 6.53 from those games – a lower overall rating than the stats website has given to as many as 14 other Tottenham players for the 2020/21 Premier League campaign so far.

How well can you remember Spurs' season so far? 1. Who is Spurs' top scorer in all competitions so far this season?

With that in mind, perhaps it’s not too surprising that McQueen declared that he doesn’t think the 24-year-old has got “a long-term future” at the north London club under Jose Mourinho during this podcast, saying:

“I’m not sure that he’d be moved on in January, I think he’s probably one that if he’s going to move on, it’ll probably be in the summer. I think we probably will go back in for [Milan] Skriniar in January, leaving Davinson as a squad player until the summer and then maybe his future’s sorted out then – I think that maybe the writing’s on the wall.

“I think the thing is with me about Davinson, it just feels like he’s not decisive enough. He hasn’t got the grit or the bite. He hasn’t got that about him, I think that’s an element that he’s missing and especially with the manager we’ve got now, he loves that, that’s what he wants. Davinson is just a bit light, I think, and that’s probably why he won’t have a long-term future under Jose.”

Do you think Sanchez has got a long-term future at Spurs?

TIF Thoughts on what McQueen had to say about Sanchez…

Sanchez is currently one of five senior options that Tottenham have at the centre-back position, however, as McQueen alluded to, the north London club was reportedly trying to sign Internazionale centre-back Milan Skriniar during the summer transfer window and while that transfer didn’t ultimately materialise, it’s been claimed that the club may go back in for the Slovak defender in January.

If they do, then could that lead to Sanchez being deemed surplus to requirements by the north London club?

As per Transfermarkt, Sanchez is currently Spurs’ fourth-most valuable player but judging by his WhoScored rating and McQueen’s comments on the player, perhaps he isn’t performing to as high of a level that his valuation would suggest that he should be and as a result, perhaps it would be a wise move for Spurs to cash in on him if they receive an offer in the region of that £40.5m Transfermarkt valuation.
