A lot of Tottenham Hotspur fans have flocked to a tweet that was recently posted by Spurs-focused Twitter account @LastWordOnSpurs in which they shared some comments that were made by Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes on a recent edition of The Official Manchester United Podcast.
Fernandes joined Spurs’ Premier League rivals Manchester United from Sporting CP in January for £49.5m but in the summer before that transfer occurred, Tottenham had attempted to sign him, with Sporting president Frederico Varandas claiming that the Lilywhites were the only club to table a “serious” offer for the playmaker in that transfer window.
As per Football.london, the £72m-rated Portugal international expressed his frustration over the breakdown of his move to Tottenham in the summer of 2019 during this recent edition of The Official Manchester United Podcast. Fernandes explained that he “was close” to joining Spurs that summer and he “was sad” that his former club rejected the north London side’s offer.
So, how did these Tottenham Hotspur fans react to Fernandes’ comments after they were shared on Twitter by @LastWordOnSpurs?
?? Bruno Fernandes:
?“I was close (to) Tottenham. In the summer I was more close (to) Tottenham Hotspur than Manchester United.”
??“At the time, the dream to come to a club like Tottenham was an amazing proposal. I was not mad, I was sad.”#THFC #COYSpic.twitter.com/3sldvTGgyM

Would Fernandes have been a good signing for Spurs?
YES
NO
I love Lo Celso and I’m going to support my club through and through. But boy does it disappoint to think that Bruno Fernandes was that close to donning the lily white https://t.co/BX27QZPf2D

A majority ‘fail’ from Levy. He’s exactly what we needed to replace Eriksen. https://t.co/LxPBB6bhjw

So, judging by the replies to this post, it seems that opinion is somewhat divided amongst Tottenham fans with regard to whether or not the north London club missed out by not signing Fernandes in the summer of 2019.
