Many Tottenham Hotspur supporters have flocked to social media in order to respond to a tweet from @Daily_Hotspur in which they relayed a report attributed to Fabrizio Romano claiming the club are currently working to extend the contracts of Son Heung-min and Hugo Lloris.

Romano made the comments on the most recent episode of his Here We Go podcast, where he delivered an update on negotiations.

The South Korean forward has been the Lilywhites’ third-highest-rated performer in the Premier League this season with an average rating of 7.78/10 (via WhoScored). Lloris, the club’s current captain, has also enjoyed a solid start to the season with his rating currently standing at 6.64/10.

It’s clear that these fans are pleased to learn the club are actively looking to secure the longer-term futures of the aforementioned pair. Son Heung-min, who joined the club from Bayer Leverkusen, still has until 2023 to run on his current Spurs contract and so although it may not be seen by some as urgent, given his impressive form, you can understand why it may feel like a positive move.

As for the goalkeeper Lloris, his current deal expires in 2022 but taking into account he is 33-years-old, perhaps the fact Spurs are actively seeking to extend his deal comes as a little more of a surprise.
