How well can you remember Spurs' season so far? 1. Who is Spurs' top scorer in all competitions so far this season?

One of the topics that he mainly spoke about was Eric Dier and his performance against Manchester City and his future in this Spurs side.

Dier turned in a solid display of 7.34, which included him making eight clearances, two tackles, and one interception.

So it was a very solid display from the England international, and that led to Bardi praising him but also doubting his long-term future in this Tottenham side.

He said: “I have been very critical of Eric Dier, but he proved on Saturday that he’s a great penalty-area defender.

“If we are going to play a high line, then I don’t think Eric Dier has a future with us – but if we continue to play that low block or a defence that sits that deep, he’s definitely got a career at Spurs.”

Do you think Dier has a future at Spurs?

TIF Thoughts on Dier and Bardi’s view on him…

Tottenham defended very well against Manchester City.

They were deep and compact and limited Pep Guardiola’s side to just five shots on target, and Dier, with his clearances, played a big part in this result for Tottenham.

However, there have been other games against so-called ‘lesser sides’ where Dier has struggled, and that could be because Tottenham were expected to be on the front foot against these teams.

For example, Dier’s lowest rating of the season in the league came in Spurs’ game against Newcastle United where Spurs had 66% possession and were on the front foot, so maybe Bardi has a point.

However, given that the 26-year-old has played 11 games for Tottenham this season all as a centre-back, then we don’t think that Mourinho is likely to be getting rid of Dier anytime soon, no matter what defensive line they play.
