How well can you remember Spurs' season so far? 1. Who is Spurs' top scorer in all competitions so far this season?

On the subject of Ndombele and his performance in the north London club’s recent 1-0 win over West Bromwich Albion, Gold had this to say on the midfielder’s fitness levels.

He said: “I think his fitness is improving a lot. I watched from my seat, I don’t know whether you see this on TV or not as well as when you’re in a stadium, but he was doing a lot of pressing, a lot of chasing down players, a lot of harassing.

“What he’s doing now, which is quite interesting, is when I was watching the games in recent months, [Jose] Mourinho was shouting at him to do that, instructing him to do that; now he’s doing it a little bit more naturally, knowing the positions he needs to take up and when he needs to press – and his fitness is making him able to do that.”

Spurs signed Ndombele back in the 2019 summer transfer window from French club Olympique Lyon for a fee of £54 million.

In his first season in England, the midfielder, who is currently valued at £36 million, made 21 Premier League appearances having struggled with a couple of injuries whilst failing to get a consistent run of form in the second half of the season.

So far this season, Ndombele has made eight league appearances for Spurs in which he has started six of them, earning himself a season rating of 6.63 for his performances (per WhoScored).

TIF Thoughts on Alasdair Gold’s comments on Ndombele…

It’s great to hear that Gold thinks Ndombele’s fitness is improving this season, hopefully, he can keep on top of his fitness throughout the rest of the season and not pick up any injuries.

It’s also impressive to hear that Ndombele is starting to pick up on the things he needs to do in the midfield role on his own now instead of having Mourinho shout his orders at him.

This shows that he is improving as a player who could well become a really important figure for Spurs this season.
