Tottenham Hotspur journalist Alasdair Gold has been discussing Japhet Tanganga’s current situation at the north London club.

This comes after Gold recently uploaded a video onto his YouTube channel where he answered a number of questions put to him about Jose Mourinho’s side.

How well can you remember Spurs' season so far? 1. Who is Spurs' top scorer in all competitions so far this season?

One question that came up was around Tanganga and how he is progressing after struggling with injuries in recent months, to which Gold gave this reply.

He said: “People at the club have just been so gutted for him because it’s just the injuries. He was really starting to come along and he was almost at the stage where he was knocking at that door to be a regular first-team starter, and he’s just had a run of bad luck with injuries.

“If he can get over that, like I say, especially him, I think – look out for [him] over these coming weeks and whether he’ll start matches or not.”

The defender returned to training back in September but the only appearance he’s made for Spurs so far this season came in their victory over Chelsea in the Carabao Cup in the same month.

Tanganga made his senior debut for Spurs back in 2019 under former boss Mauricio Pochettino. Since then, the defender, who is currently valued at £7.2 million, has made 12 senior appearances for the north London club.

TIF Thoughts on Alasdair Gold’s comments on Tanganga…

The fact that Tanganga earned himself a solid season rating of 7.00/10 for his performances in the Premier League last season shows that he can be a solid performer for Spurs when called upon and it is clear from Gold’s comments that he retains a lot of hope for the defender to fulfil a promising career.

Moving forward, hopefully, Tanganga can get his fitness back on track and start playing some more games for Spurs so he can provide an extra defensive option for the club in the remainder of their domestic and European fixtures this season.
