Speaking recently on a video posted on his YouTube account, Alasdair Gold discussed what the coming months could look like for Tottenham winger Jack Clarke, including a potential loan move for the winger in January.

Since joining Spurs from Leeds United in what was a £9.9 million deal in the summer of 2019, Clarke has made just one appearance for the Tottenham first team, which came as a second-half substitute in the club’s 3-0 win over LASK in the Europa League in October.

How well can you remember Spurs' season so far? 1. Who is Spurs' top scorer in all competitions so far this season?

Last season, the £4.86 million-rated 19-year-old was sent on two separate loan spells – the first of which was to his former club, Leeds, for whom he made just three appearances, with the second being at Queens Park Rangers, where he made seven appearances.

According to Gold, who was speaking on a recent video posted on YouTube, the England U20 international could be on his way out of north London once again in January – but hinted he may get first-team opportunities in Europe before the new year.

He said: “Jack Clarke [could] potentially [go on loan] in January. The plan with this part of the season was they weren’t going to loan him out, [Spurs] rebuffed a few offers form the Championship. It was about letting him settle in, develop, actually get a run of what it’s like to be a Tottenham player in the squad amongst the other players.

“They’re trying to give him Europa League minutes when they can. I think you’ll see more of that, especially if they’re in commanding positions in games and with the fact that they can bring on five subs. And then in January, they’ll have a little look at it and see whether he’d be better served then, taking what he’s learned from those four/five months and take it to a Championship club.”

TIF Thoughts on Alasdair Gold’s comments regarding Jack Clarke…

From Gold’s comments, it would appear that there were offers for Clarke over the summer transfer window, however, Spurs wanted to let the player develop at the club, having spent all of the previous season away on loan, before potentially sending him out on a temporary once again in January.

And considering Clarke has played just four minutes of senior football this season, after playing just 10 first-team fixtures in the entirety of last term, it is our opinion that another loan could indeed aid the winger in his development as a footballer – rather than just sitting watching from the wings and featuring sporadically at best for Spurs – as long as the club he is sent to agree to play him on a regular basis.
