Tottenham Hotspur journalist Alasdair Gold has been discussing Lilywhites winger Gareth Bale and his current fitness situation.

This comes after Gold shared a video on his YouTube channel where he answered a number of Spurs-related questions put to him by his followers.

How well can you remember Spurs' season so far? 1. Who is Spurs' top scorer in all competitions so far this season?

During the video, one question that came up concerned Bale’s current fitness levels and also pointed out that the Welshman seems to have lost some of his pace.

In response, Gold had this to say on the matter.

He said: “I think he knows in the back of his head if he just suddenly opens his legs and sprints, he could do his hamstring right now. I think he needs to be entirely confident in his body and then you’ll see it. He admitted himself, he said ‘my pace hasn’t gone, I still feel I have my pace.’

“But I just don’t think we’ve seen him really going at defenders yet until he’s fully confident that his body can handle it. [The] worst possible thing would be to just keep picking up hamstring problems because I think, certainly in these big games, I think you’ll start to see a fit Gareth Bale [and that] is a very exciting prospect.”

Since returning to Spurs back in September this year, the winger has made just six appearances for the north London club after recovering from a knee problem he had when he arrived.

Do you think Bale will get back to full fitness soon?

TIF Thoughts on Alasdair Gold’s comments on Bale’s fitness…

It seems that there are still some concerns over Bale’s fitness. However, Bale recently revealed that he needs to get a “little fitter and sharper” but is excited about getting back to full fitness.

Taking this into consideration, it may take a little bit more time before Bale can get back to full fitness and then unleash his full potential on the pitch for Spurs.

In our view, if Bale has been holding himself back a bit so far because he is concerned about picking up a potential injury, then that is fair enough.

With Bale’s three appearances in the Premier League so far in this campaign earning himself a season rating of 6.62/10, he could well earn himself a higher rating by the end of the campaign if he can improve and play at full fitness for the remainder of the season.
