Luke Edwards has been speaking on a recent edition of The NUFC Late Show by Gallowgate Shots about all things relating to Newcastle United.

Who will the Toon play in the next round of the Carabao Cup after they beat Newport County on penalties?

One of the main topics of discussion was the proposed takeover of the club by PCP Capital Partners, PIF and the Reuben brothers that was withdrawn in July.

While he was talking about this, Mike Ashley’s potential legal challenge was mentioned, and the Daily Telegraph reporter seems to want the Toon’s owner to get his day in court.

He said: “I hope Mike Ashley gets his day in court.

“I don’t think that’s progressing very well or very fast, but I think that’s our best hope to actually find out what on earth has happened and what the hell went wrong and why this takeover hasn’t happened.”

Do you think Ashley will get his day in court?

Yes, this will end up in court

No, nothing will happen

TIF Thoughts on Ashley’s potential legal challenge and Edwards’ view on it…

Ashley has appointed two lawyers, Nick De Marco and Shaheed Fatima, as he looks to force through the takeover of the Toon, but since they were appointed, there has been no more information made public on what is going on.

However, a legal challenge was launched by Newcastle Consortium Supporters Ltd that is said to have the backing of Ashley.

At this stage, though, it is unclear if the lawyers hired by Ashley are involved in this legal challenge or if that will become something different.

What is clear, though, is that Edwards thinks that the only way we will know for certain what happened with the takeover is if this goes to court.

So, we will have to see what happens, but it will be interesting if this does end up in court and the matter is resolved in this way.
