Newcastle United fans have flocked to Twitter to share their criticism for Toon attacker Joelinton for his display in the club’s 2-0 defeat to Chelsea.
Steve Bruce’s side fell behind in the opening 10 minutes of the match at St. James’ Park thanks to an own goal from Federico Fernandez before Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham doubled the visitor’s lead in the second half.
After the match had ended, lots of Newcastle fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts on Joelinton’s performance in the defeat in particular.
So, what did these Newcastle fans have to say about Joelinton?
Joelinton costing 40m is still the biggest crime of the century

Newcastle signed Joelinton back in the 2019 summer transfer window from German side Hoffenheim for a fee of £39.6 million.

His debut season for Newcastle saw him make 38 appearances for the Toon in the Premier League in which he managed to score two goals and provide two assists (per WhoScored).
Joelinton actually struggles to even kick the ball, never seen anything like it

Joelinton is the worst footballer, can’t shoot, can’t hold a ball up, won’t run at defenders. Useless.

The Chronicle Live gave Joelinton, who is currently valued at £18 million, a match rating of 6/10 for his performance against Chelsea, saying that he was “forced to feed from bits and pieces.”
Carroll and Joelinton our only options up front, got me saying bring back Joselu! ? #NUFC

Were you disappointed by Joelinton's performance against Chelsea?

If Joelinton just ran people down and made it hard for the centre halves I’d give him so leeway for being absolutely terrible. But he just strolls about like he’s popped to the local Tesco on a Sunday morning. Blokes stealing a living!

Looking at these tweets from this group of Newcastle fans, it’s clear to see that they weren’t pleased with what they saw from Joelinton in their latest league clash.
Hopefully, Joelinton can put this result behind him and focus on improving for the remainder of the season and help Newcastle finish as high up the table as possible. Although, things don’t look promising as the Brazilian has failed to find the back of the net in his seven appearances in the Premier League so far this season, so perhaps Steve Bruce will put his trust in someone like Andy Carroll.
