Newcastle United fans on Twitter have been responding to the latest news concerning Toon midfielder Jeff Hendrick.
This comes after the official Newcastle Twitter account shared a post on their page quote-tweeting a post from @FAIreland who revealed that Hendrick had been called up to be part of the squad for the Republic of Ireland’s upcoming international matches against England, Wales and Bulgaria.
This post from the official Newcastle Twitter account then gathered a number of replies from Toon fans who were not shy in sharing their thoughts on the midfielder.

Newcastle signed Hendrick, who is currently valued at £8.1 million on a free transfer from fellow Premier League side Burnley back in the previous summer transfer window.

Hendrick’s performances in those seven league games has earned him a respectable season rating of 6.73/10, making him Newcastle’s sixth highest-rated player in this campaign (per WhoScored).
They must already have players that will pass the ball from 0-90° and 270-360°. Hendrick will be there to cover 90-270°.

It’s great to hear that Hendrick has been given the opportunity to play for his country in their upcoming games, however, looking at the replies to this post, it appears that these Newcastle supporters aren’t huge fans of Hendrick, which isn’t nice to see.
Hopefully, when he comes back from international duty, the midfielder can put in some performances for the Toon that will change these Newcastle fans’ mind about him.
