Fans of Newcastle United have recently reacted to an update which was shared on social media by the Newcastle Consortium Supporters group.
Back in late October, the group of Toon supporters sent a letter to the Premier League threatening them with legal action (per Sky Sports).
The letter accused the top flight of breaching company law and was in relation to the drawn-out, Saudi Arabian-backed takeover process which eventually failed.
This latest update from the group of supporters revealed that they had received a ‘substantive’ nine-page response from the Premier League which had been handed to their ‘competition team led by Robert O’Donoghue, QC’.
Following the tweet from the Newcastle Consortium Supporters, lots of Toon fans flocked to it to air their thoughts.
So, what did these Newcastle United fans have to say about the update from the Newcastle Consortium Supporters group?
We’ve received the EPL’s “substantive” 9-page response. Its now with our competition team led by Robert O’Donoghue, QC. We’ll announce our next move in our determination to progress this matter. Stand together as fans for answers! UNITED we remain!#nufc #nufctakover ??????????

The Twitter post from the group of Newcastle supporters also reiterated their ‘determination‘ to progress the matter with the top flight, which had many fans praising them.
Do you think this will make a difference to whether or not the consortium will take over the club?

Excellent work, hopefully there be some input from Amanda Staveley & Ashley lawyers, which would be a positive sign that both parties are still very much interested. Game On !!!

It has now been three and a half months since it was first reported that the £300m bid to buy the Toon from Mike Ashley had failed (per BBC).
The reason which was stated at the time was that Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund PIF, which formed a consortium with PCP Capital Partners and the Reuben Brothers, had run out of patience with the Premier League’s owners’ and directors’ test.
Well done guys ?? great effort you’ve done more in 6 weeks than the trust have! ???
