Fans of Newcastle United have recently reacted to a social media post which was shared on Twitter by Newcastle Consortium Supporters.

The group of Toon fans has recently threatened the Premier League with legal action following the failed takeover bid from a Saudi Arabian-backed consortium (per Sky Sports).

Newcastle Consortium Supporters Ltd sent a letter to the Premier League accusing them of breaching competition law.

On Tuesday afternoon, the group’s Twitter account relayed that they had received a response from the top flight asking for a ‘further 14 days’ to respond to their claim.

Lots of Toon supporters then flocked to this tweet to air their responses.

A nice easy one to start off with. Who scored Newcastle's opening goal of the 2020/21 PL season?

So, what did these Newcastle United fans have to say about Newcastle Consortium Supporters’ tweet?

As well as sending their letter to the Premier League, the group has enlisted the help of Robert O’Donoghue QC of Brick Court Chambers to assist in their efforts to take the case to the Competition Appeal Tribunal.

Will this lead to anything positive for Newcastle?

In late July, it was reported that the £300m Saudi-backed takeover bid to purchase Newcastle United had been ended due to them running out of patience with the drawn-out process (per BBC).

It was later reported in August that the takeover bid had collapsed due to the consortium rejecting the top flight’s offer of arbitration.

As can be seen in these responses from Toon fans, many of them made it clear that they want to see the Newcastle Consortium Supporters group keep up the pressure on the Premier League.
