Newcastle writer Liam Kennedy recently joined Steve Wraith on NUFC Matters to discuss a variety of subjects relating to the Magpies.

Earlier in the week, it was revealed that the Premier League had responded to the NCSL’s (Newcastle Consortium Supporters Limited) Letter Before Action regarding the takeover. In the letter, the group questioned the Premier League’s conduct with regards to the owners’ and directors’ test following Mike Ashley’s agreement with the Saudi-backed consortium over the purchase of the club (as per The Shields Gazette).

Starting with an easy one, what number does Wilson wear for Newcastle?

The Premier League has now outlined its position and has responded by sending the relevant legal documents to NCSL. When discussing the topic and the latest developments, here is what the journalist had to say:

“The Premier League responded to NCSL, for anybody who is in really any doubt out there that the Premier League aren’t taking this seriously, they really, really are. It was a nine-page response, a rebuttal of the claims, of course, but that is nothing that NCSL did not expect.

“They’ve had their response and it’s all guns blazing, all wheels in motion, and just cracking on towards the end goal. They want this takeover as much as we do.”

Are you confident the NCSL can win their legal battle versus the Premier League?

TIF Thoughts on Liam Kennedy’s comments regarding the Premier League’s response to NCSL…

As alluded to by Kennedy in the video and in his piece for the Shields Gazette, NCSL has ‘reiterated their pledge to plough on towards court action’ and in our view, that should give those desperate to see a takeover completed some hope that a potential deal is not dead in the water just yet.

The consortium made up of the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund, PCP Capital Partners and the Reuben brothers withdrew its bid back in July, having not received the green light from the Premier League, which never officially rejected the takeover.

With the saga having dragged on long enough, it will surely be of interest to those connected to Newcastle that there is at least some movement regarding the matter and provide some hope that there could yet be a positive conclusion in the coming weeks and months.
