A lot of Newcastle United fans have flocked to a post from Lee Ryder, which contains comments from England manager Gareth Southgate.
Southgate confirmed that Jordan Pickford would stay as the number-one goalkeeper and that no one was playing well enough to push the Everton goalkeeper.
This drew the attention of these Newcastle fans, who feel that their goalkeeper Karl Darlow should be in the squad.
So, what did these Newcastle fans make of Southgate’s comments?
So most saves in Europe’s top 5 leagues isn’t pushing him enough?

Is he watching the same English football as we are @KarlDarlow

Is he joking? Pope and Henderson are better than him he should be 4th choice @KarlDarlow should be in

Should Darlow be in the England squad ahead of Pickford?
Yes, he has been brilliant
No, Pickford is better
Darlow has made more saves than Pickford this season and is currently the Toon’s highest-rated player this season in the Premier League with a 7.39 rating, while Pickford is Everton’s 13th-highest rated player with a rating of 6.43.
So, that would suggest that Darlow is playing better than the 26-year-old, and these Toon fans might have a point.
As well as this, the 30-year-old has not made a single mistake that has led to a goal, while Pickford has made one this season.
This post from Ryder continued to draw the attention of many Newcastle fans who clearly don’t rate Pickford.
It’s just because he can’t be bothered to look. Pickford shouldn’t be England keeper regardless of who is the other options; because of how many mistakes he makes. Rather pick a benched Henderson over him at least give him a chance to show he is better.

If you look at Darlow’s average rating and compare it with Pickford’s, you can see that the Toon’s goalkeeper is playing much better than the former Sunderland goalkeeper.
So, on that basis, you could argue that Southgate is wrong, and at least one goalkeeper is pushing Pickford.
Certainly, many of these Toon fans think that their goalkeeper should be in the England squad ahead of the Everton man.
