Liverpool journalist James Pearce has been sharing his praise for Reds full-back Andy Robertson.

This comes after Pearce recently made an appearance on The Athletic’s Liverpool-themed podcast The Red Agenda where he spoke about a number of different topics concerning the Merseyside club.

First up in this Steven Gerrard quiz, how old is the former Liverpool man?

On the topic of Robertson, who managed to grab himself an assist for Diogo Jota during Liverpool’s 3-0 win over Leicester City at the weekend, Pearce had this to say on the defender’s performance and his part in the goal.

He said: “I think you’ve got to give Andy Robertson a huge amount of credit as well for the part he played in that goal because he’s an absolute machine, Robertson.

“To think that the emotional high of leading Scotland to their first major tournament in over 20 years, then missing a game due to a tight hamstring, then playing 90 minutes in Israel on Wednesday night, and then to perform like that – it defied logic, really.”

Robertson was a doubt to play in Scotland’s UEFA Nations League match against Israel after missing out on their 1-0 defeat to Slovakia due to a hamstring problem he picked up.

However, the left-back did manage to play through the entire defeat against Israel, as Pearce mentioned in the podcast.

The 26-year-old, who is currently valued at £67.5 million, joined the Reds back in the 2017 summer transfer window from Hull City for a fee of £8.1 million.

Since then, the full-back has gone on to make 140 appearances for Jurgen Klopp’s side in which he has managed to score five goals and provide 33 assists (per Transfermarkt).

TIF Thoughts on James Pearce’s comments on Robertson…

As Pearce mentioned in the podcast, Robertson assisted the goal for Diogo Jota to put the home side 2-0 up and ultimately earned himself a very impressive match rating of 8.35/10 for his performance (per WhoScored).

In our view, for Robertson to have put in such a good performance for Liverpool after recently playing the entirety of Scotland’s 1-0 defeat to Israel, this makes him worthy of this praise from Pearce and also shows just what an important player he is for the Reds.
