Ryan Wilson of LS11, a Leeds United focused YouTube channel has been discussing the performance of Jamie Shackleton following the club’s recent defeat at the hands of Leicester City.

Brendan Rodgers’ side travelled to Elland Road on Monday night and ran out 4-1 winners (as per BBC Sport). Patrick Bamford missed an opportunity to give the hosts the lead just prior to Harvey Barnes scoring the opener for the visitors, arguably adding to the frustration of the Leeds faithful when Leicester took the lead.

Who did Leeds sign from a La Liga side in September?

Shackleton was named in the midfield for the Whites and according to WhoScored, his display earned him a disappointing performance rating of 5.92/10.

Following a substandard first-half display, the 21-year-old was substituted by Marcelo Bielsa at half time and replaced by Ian Poveda.

When reviewing the performance, Wilson had this to say with regards to Shackleton:

“No offence to Shackleton, but it just wasn’t his night, he hardly had any touches, I didn’t even really feel like he [was] in the game half of the time.”

TIF Thoughts on Ryan Wilson’s comments regarding Jamie Shackleton…

To date, the £2.07m-rated player has experienced just 123 minutes of top-flight football and so it could be argued that he is still adapting to Premier League football and that’s perhaps partly the reason why he appeared to struggle versus the Foxes.

With Kalvin Phillips currently unavailable, forcing Marcelo Bielsa to move Mateusz Klich into a more defensive role and when you take into account Pablo Hernandez didn’t perform to his maximum, it may be understandable as to why Shackleton seemingly struggled.
