Who did Leeds sign from a La Liga side in September?

One part of the show was a Q&A from fans, and one question that Hay was asked about concerned Leeds’ plans for the January transfer window.

According to Hay, Leeds are keen to avoid doing much business in January because of the increased prices and the difficulty of bringing any signing up to Marcelo Bielsa’s levels of fitness.

He said: “The feeling in the club and in the recruitment department is generally that they would like to do as little business as they can in January.

“Firstly, because you don’t tend to get huge amounts of value at that time, you tend to have to overpay.

“And secondly, to use [Jean-Kevin] Augustin as an example, it can be very difficult to find players who can come in and make any immediate impression under Bielsa because of the levels he expects them to reach when it comes to fitness and conditioning.

“They feel like it’s almost a bit of a waste of time, the January window.”

TIF Thoughts on Leeds’ plans for the January transfer window and Hay’s information…

Hay mentions Jean-Kevin Augustin as an example of a player the Whites signed in a January transfer window that didn’t hit those levels that Bielsa required and played very little football.

He managed just three appearances for Leeds, totalling just 48 minutes on the pitch, so by going off this, you can understand why the Whites are maybe not so keen on doing business in January.

Leeds spent £96.1m in the summer transfer window and strengthened their squad sufficiently in a few areas of the pitch, so we are not sure if the Whites will be active in the new year.

However, according to Hay, even if they are, it appears Leeds would be reluctant to engage in any business.

So, it will be interesting to see if Leeds do make any signings in January or not.
