Celebrity Leeds United fan Micky P Kerr has singled out Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze for praise during a recent video on All Leeds TV in which he and the panel were looking back on the game between the two clubs which took place at Selhurst Park prior to the international break.

Roy Hodgson’s side ran out comfortable 4-1 winners, a game in which Eze starred, earning an impressive performance rating of 9.13/10 (as per WhoScored). The 22-year-old, who signed for the south London-based club in the summer from QPR for £16.02m, got himself on the scoresheet too, adding Palace’s second with a ‘sublime’ free-kick.

Starting with an easy one what shirt number does Bamford wear for Leeds United?

On the subject of the attacking midfielder, who had been linked to a Leeds move in the summer, here is what Kerr had to say:

“Eze is one of the best players in England. I was gutted we didn’t sign him, when he played for QPR [against Leeds] he was the best player on the pitch. We could not get the ball off him, he reminds me of [Zinedine] Zidane. I know that is a massive thing to say, and he hasn’t got the fancy footwork of Zidane, but the way he moves his body – he is outstanding.

“If he can stay fit and stay in that team, he will make a massive difference to them creatively because he’s so good going forward and so good at ball retention.

“I think he’s an England star in the making.”

Does Eze have the talent to become a Crystal Palace legend?

TIF Thoughts on Micky P Kerr’s comments regarding Eberechi Eze…

In our view, to compare the Crystal Palace midfielder to the great Zinedine Zidane feels very premature. The current manager of Real Madrid, a World Cup winner and European champion as a player, is one of the game’s most well-respected figures and so although Eze impressed versus Leeds United, at this stage in his career, we don’t believe any comparison between the two should be drawn.

This is Eze’s first season in the English top-flight and although he earned a very strong average performance rating of 7.36/10 in the second-tier last season (as per WhoScored), we still believe he is a long way from being regarded as a generational talent.
