Many Leeds United supporters have been reacting to a post from the club’s official Twitter account in which they shared some footage of a goal scored by Joe Gelhardt during the Under-23s’ recent fixture versus Crystal Palace.
The Whites won the game 4-1 and the clip captured the former Wigan attacker’s second goal of the game where he managed to avoid the challenges of a number of Palace defenders before firing left-footed into the bottom corner.
Gelhardt made the move to Elland Road from Wigan back in August for an undisclosed fee having made his debut for the Latics at just 16 years old in the Carabao Cup (as per leedsunited.com).
Following the emergence of this latest footage on social media, many of the club’s supporters have been discussing the youngster.
How did the Leeds fans react to this footage of Joe Gelhardt?
Can’t wait till he’s with the first team.

Too good for that level. Will be making his Premier League debut before the end of the season.

It’s clear from the above responses that these Leeds supporters believe Gelhardt will be ready for first-team football sooner rather than later having seen him in action for their Under-23s.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side has started life in the top flight relatively comfortably, winning three of their opening six fixtures and are due to entertain Leicester City at Elland Road tonight.
Having played on Sunday, Gelhardt is extremely unlikely to be part of the Leeds squad for the game versus Leicester City, however, in our view, he may well be called up into the first-team squad between now and the end of the season.
