The Athletic’s Everton correspondent Patrick Boyland has claimed that Paris Saint-Germain may be eyeing a permanent move for Moise Kean.

During the summer transfer window, the French gargantuan sealed the arrival of the Italian striker on a season-long loan from the Toffees (per BBC).

Kean arrived in Merseyside during the summer of 2019 after the club agreed to a deal which could be worth up to £27.5m to seal his arrival from Juventus.

However, he failed to hit the ground running during his first term at Goodison Park as he bagged just two goals and two assists in 29 league outings (per Transfermarkt).

For PSG, the 20-year-old frontman has been far more prolific as he has bagged five goals and one assist across seven appearances in Ligue 1 and the Champions League.

During the latest episode of The Athletic’s Gwlad Tidings podcast, Boyland discussed Kean’s stay in Paris and suggested that PSG are eyeing a permanent move for him.

To kick off this quiz on Seamus Coleman, what squad number does the right-back currently wear for the Toffees?

He said: “I guess the interesting question, just to throw it forward even further, is we’re already hearing noises that PSG like what they see.

“The sporting director, Leonardo – who has been tracking the player for some time – he’s one of the ones that is thinking quite seriously about whether they can keep him in Paris at the Parc des Princes.

“So, it’s going to be really, really interesting to see what happens. Kean, obviously, wanted to go to PSG, he didn’t want to stay at Everton and be a bit-part player as he probably would have been at the start.

“There’s no formal purchase option, so they’re going to have to negotiate, and negotiate well with Everton, if they want to keep him.

“Let’s not forget, Everton paid upwards of £25m to sign Moise Kean. If he continues at this scoring rate, his transfer value’s only going to continue to soar.”

TIF Thoughts on what Patrick Boyland said about PSG’s possible interest in Moise Kean…

As can be seen in what the journalist had to say, there have already been some “noises” that the French club wants to keep the Italian striker permanently.

Would you mind if Everton sold Moise Kean to PSG permanently?

No, he's not that good

Yes, he's a class player

With Kean having been PSG’s sixth-best performer in Ligue 1 with an impressive 7.28/10 average rating (per WhoScored), it is clear to see why the French club would want to keep the starlet.

However, there would be a number of factors to consider if a bid did arrive from the Parisiens, the first would be the price.

Boyland mentioned that Kean’s value would continue to “soar” if he continues to perform well in France, which it likely would do, however, his current market value stands at £22.5m, which is less than what the Toffees paid for him.

Another factor would be that Carlo Ancelotti has already expressed his desire for the Italian to remain an Everton player and stated that he will be “back next season” (per Liverpool Echo).

So, while anything can happen in football, the odds seem somewhat stacked against Kean departing permanently as Everton may not be able to recoup what the paid for him and Ancelotti wants him to stay.
