Everton journalist Greg O’Keeffe has been sharing his insight into a potential move from the Merseyside club for Real Madrid midfielder Isco.

This comes after O’Keeffe recently made an appearance on the latest episode of The Athletic’s Ornstein & Chapman Podcast where he spoke about the latest goings-on concerning Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

To kick off this quiz on Abdoulaye Doucoure, what shirt number does the Frenchman currently wear for Everton?

On the topic of Isco, who has been linked with a move to Goodison Park in recent weeks, O’Keeffe had this to say on the matter. (18.43)

He said: “It just made me laugh because Ancelotti picks and chooses sometimes and he says, ‘I won’t mention another club’s player,’ when he was asked about Isco, his answer was a little bit similar to the sort of answer he was giving when he was talking about [James] Rodriguez, in the summer, before they’d signed him, so I don’t know, watch that one, that might not be quite as fanciful as it seems.”

When Ancelotti was asked about Isco, the Italian said he is a “fantastic” player and he has fantastic memories of him but he is not focused on the player at the moment.

The Spaniard signed to Real Madrid back in 2013 from fellow Spanish club Malaga for a fee of £27 million. Overall, the 28-year-old has made a total of 312 appearances for Madrid across all competitions in which he has managed to score 51 goals and provide 54 assists along the way (per Transfermarkt).

As O’Keeffe mentioned in the podcast, Everton signed James Rodriguez from Real Madrid in the previous summer transfer window on a free transfer.

In his first seven appearances for Everton, Rodriguez has managed to score three goals and provide four assists for the club.

TIF Thoughts on Greg O’Keeffe’s comments on a potential move for Isco…

It seems that O’Keeffe feels that there could potentially be something genuine going on concerning Everton’s links to Isco and that the fans should keep an eye on it.

With the January transfer window on the horizon, it’ll be interesting to see if Ancelotti manages to bring Isco, who is currently valued at £27 million, to Goodison Park as he did with Rodriguez.

With Isco having won so many trophies during his time at Madrid, including four Champions League titles, the midfielder certainly has a lot of top-level experience under his belt that could well be very useful for Everton if they signed him.
