Speaking recently on a video posted on his YouTube channel, Alasdair Gold discussed the future of Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, Dele Alli.

Since moving to Spurs from Milton Keynes Dons in what was a £5.97 million deal back in 2015, Alli has so far gone on to feature 228 times for Tottenham, scoring 63 goals and providing 55 assists along the way.

How well can you remember Spurs' season so far? 1. Who is Spurs' top scorer in all competitions so far this season?

However, so far this season, the £46.8 million-rated 24-year-old has played just 66 minutes of Premier League football, being left out of Jose Mourinho’s matchday squad on six occasions this term.

The England international was said to have been offered to Paris Saint-Germain over the summer transfer window, however, when the French side returned with a loan bid which included a €3 million (£2.7 million) fee, Spurs rejected the offer.

However, with the midfielder still appearing to be out of favour with Mourinho, rumours have been circulating about the player’s potential departure from the club in January, and this was one topic of conversation on a recent video Gold posted on YouTube, in which the journalist claimed Alli’s future at Spurs is up to him.

In response to a question asking whether he saw any Spurs players leaving the club in January, Gold said: “Dele – [it’s] down to Dele. Dele’s got all the quality in the world, so much talent. Essentially, it’s up to him.

“The bench, now, it’s so difficult, you’ve only got two attacking-midfield options on that bench as well, and it’s down to him to really make it too difficult for Mourinho to leave him out of the team. It’s down to Dele.”

TIF Thoughts on Alasdair Gold’s comments regarding Dele Alli…

From Gold’s comments, it would certainly appear that the journalist is of the belief that Alli could still have a part to play in Tottenham’s future, and it is up to him to prove to Mourinho that he is a player who the manager cannot afford to leave out of the side.

And, after Mourinho took over at Spurs in November 2019, Alli did go on something of a run of form, scoring six goals and providing four assists over the 20 Premier League matches the Portuguese manager took charge of in the 2019/20 season.

However, that feels like a very long time ago at present, and, considering Alli has hardly played at all in the league so far this season, in our opinion, it would not be surprising to see the 24-year-old leave the club in January.
