On a recent video, streamed live on the Back of the Nest, a Crystal Palace-themed YouTube channel, Diyar Kurnaz and contributor Chris discussed Eberechi Eze’s latest performance and what that could mean with regards to the future of Wilfried Zaha.

The match against Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United on Saturday afternoon went according to the script for Roy Hodgson as the Eagles defeated the Whites 4-1 at Selhurst Park, with the aforementioned Eze scoring directly from a free-kick on 22 minutes (as per BBC Sport).

The 22-year-old, who signed for the club from fellow London-based club Queens Park Rangers during the summer in a deal reportedly worth £16.02m (as per Transfermarkt), judging by the comments of these fans, impressed those who follow the club with his showing versus the Whites.

His display at the weekend earned him a performance rating of 9.13/10 according to WhoScored, making him the best player on the pitch and according to Chris, he could fill the void if Zaha, who has been linked with a move away for a couple of seasons now, does move on in January or at the end of the season.

Here is what he had to say when discussing Eze’s influence: “If anything, [Saturday] showed us Palace fans that if Wilf wasn’t in the team, we can cope. Eze could be this new player; if everyone else is raising the bar, if we get a big bid in next summer, then we take it.”

TIF Thoughts on the YouTuber’s comments regarding Eze and Zaha…

It’s clear from these comments that the former QPR man’s display at the weekend has gone a long way in persuading the YouTuber the attacking midfielder can go on to become a very important player for Palace, however, given he has started in just 38% of their Premier League fixtures so far this season, in our view, the suggestion he could be the new Zaha, a player who has scored 62 goals for the club (as per Transfermarkt) feels a little premature.
