Aston Villa podcaster Chris Dolan has been sharing his praise for Villa winger Trezeguet.

This comes after Dolan recently co-hosted the latest episode of The Villa View Podcast to look back over the club’s 3-0 win over Arsenal at the weekend.

First up in this quiz on Gabriel Agbonlahor, how old is the former Villa man?

On the topic of Trezeguet, who started the game at the Emirates Stadium, Dolan had this to say on the winger.

He said: “Trezeguet’s work rate, it’s unbelievable. I’d love to know how many yards that guy covers, I’d love to see his stats this season for miles covered per game because honestly, it’s unbelievable.

“He’s added a good 15 minutes of fitness into his game because he came off [at] 85/86 minutes or whatever it was and he never looked like he was blowing.

“He always looked like he had enough in the tank, whereas last season, after an hour, he looked tired. I just think the guy, he’s becoming a bit of a cult hero, but his work rate is just phenomenal.”

Villa signed the Egyptian, who is currently valued at £7.2 million, from Turkish club Kasimpasa back in the 2019 summer transfer window in a deal worth a reported fee of £9 million.

In his first season at Villa Park, Trezeguet made 34 Premier League appearances in which he scored six goals, provided one assist and earned himself a season rating of 6.59/10 for his performances (per WhoScored).

So far in this current campaign, Trezeguet has earned himself an improved season rating of 7.33/10 for his performances in the seven league games he’s played for Villa.

His performance against Arsenal saw him pick up an impressive match rating of 7.72/10 in which he had a pass accuracy percentage of 88.5%, the highest of any Villa player.

TIF Thoughts on Chris Dolan’s comments on Trezeguet…

It’s great to hear this praise Dolan has for Trezeguet and it’s also great to hear that he recognises Trezeguet’s work rate and just how much he gives on the pitch for Villa.

Hopefully, Trezeguet can continue on this path and then by the end of the season he could potentially be considered as one of Villa’s most important players.
