Charles Watts, the Arsenal correspondent for Goal, has been discussing the latest with regards to the injury Thomas Partey sustained in the recent fixture versus Aston Villa during a recent YouTube video

Mikel Arteta’s Gunners suffered their fourth defeat of the Premier League season at the hands of Dean Smith’s side last weekend with the Ghanaian having to be replaced at half-time by Dani Ceballos after picking up a thigh injury in the first period.

In what month did Mikel Arteta take over as the Arsenal boss?

Arsenal triggered Thomas Partey’s release clause on transfer deadline day to sign the 27-year-old from Atletico Madrid and having seen him forced off last Sunday, they will be hoping it’s just a short-term injury for the midfielder. The journalist provided an update on the player’s fitness and here is what he had to say:

“He’s not gone with Ghana, he stayed at Arsenal with that thigh injury he sustained against Aston Villa.

“I spoke to someone that I know [who is] close to the player and he said that Partey was feeling pretty confident that it wasn’t going to be too bad an injury. I couldn’t get a timescale on exactly when he was going to be back, but he was hoping he would be back pretty soon.”

TIF Thoughts on Charles Watts’ update regarding Thomas Partey’s fitness…

Taking into account what the Arsenal correspondent has had to say, it seems the fans can be a little more relaxed with regards to their midfield enforcer’s fitness. Since arriving in the Premier League, Partey has appeared for the Gunners four times, earning a solid average performance rating of 6.7/10 (as per WhoScored.com) and so we can assume both the fans and the manager will be pleased to learn the injury isn’t feared to be a serious one.
