To kick off our latest quiz on this past weekend's EFL action, which team earned a 3-0 victory over Championship leaders Reading at the weekend?

It was announced on Monday that Monk and his staff had left the Owls and that their contracts had been terminated, which led to a lengthy discussion on Monk and what Wednesday can expect from the rest of the season.

This led Simon to reveal what he thinks would be a good season for the Owls now.

He said: “I think we’re a better side, on paper, than we were last year.

“I think for all his misgivings, he’s had to recycle a squad, has Monk – and he’s done that.

“So for me, I think anybody coming in and keeping Sheffield Wednesday in the Championship, to the outside observer, would say that that’s a successful season.

“So, anybody can come in, and we finish 21st – that’s a good season for us.”

Do you think staying up would be an achievement for Sheffield Wednesday this season?

Yes, that would be good

TIF Thoughts on Sheffield Wednesday and Simon’s expectations of them…

The Owls started the season on -12 points due to a punishment for breaching EFL rules over the sale of Hillsborough.

However, that was negotiated down to a six-point deduction, and the Owls now sit on six points two points from safety.

It looks like that wasn’t good enough for the Sheffield Wednesday hierarchy, and after 58 games, Monk was dismissed as manager of the Owls.

It will be intriguing to see who comes in to replace him with the likes of Phil Neville and Sol Campbell linked with the job.

In Simon’s view, whoever is appointed has to keep the club in the Championship, but nothing more, and considering they are only two points from safety, we think that could be possible for whoever comes in.

So, now we wait and see who Wednesday decide is the right manager for the job.
