Podcasters Jeffrey Paternostro and Justin DeSorgher discussed all of the latest Sheffield Wednesday news on the most recent edition of the Owls Americast podcast and during the show, they spent some time talking about the possibility of Tony Pulis replacing Garry Monk, who was sacked by the Yorkshire club earlier this week

It has been reported that preliminary talks have been held between Wednesday and Pulis, with another round of talks reportedly expected to take place ahead of the 62-year-old potentially being appointed as the Owls’ new manager.

To kick off our latest quiz on this past weekend's EFL action, which team earned a 3-0 victory over Championship leaders Reading at the weekend?

With Pulis being strongly linked to the Hillsborough hotseat, his potential appointment was discussed during this recent edition of the Owls Americast podcast and here is what DeSorgher had to say about Pulis potentially taking over at the Yorkshire club:

“I don’t want to see it either, but if this is – and the rumours are – that it is a short-term, ‘til the end of the season, replacement, [if] Dejphon Chansiri feels that this manoeuvre will guarantee them staying in this division so they can then implement a long-term plan, then I don’t mind this. It’s not going to be fun to watch.”

TIF Thoughts on what DeSorgher had to say about Pulis potentially becoming the Owls’ new manager…

With Wednesday currently sitting second-from-bottom in the Championship, it may not come as a big surprise that Pulis is seemingly being strongly considered for the manager’s position at the Yorkshire club, given that the 62-year-old has earned a reputation as an ‘escape artist’ during his managerial career.

So, it may be understandable why the podcaster would be happy to see Pulis at Hillsborough on a short-term basis, despite the fact that he has received criticism for his tactics over the years, which may be one reason why this podcaster does seem to have some concern about Pulis potentially being appointed for the long-term.

However, maybe Pulis wouldn’t want to come to Wednesday merely on a short-term basis just to try and ensure that they don’t get relegated, as he has shared some frustration over being ‘pigeonholed’ as a manager who just saves clubs from relegation in the past, indicating that he believes he’s good enough to take clubs forward, so perhaps he would want the opportunity to build something for the long-term at Sheffield Wednesday.
