Sheffield Wednesday journalist Nancy Frostick has shed some light on who the next manager could be at Hillsborough.

This comes after Frostick recently made a guest appearance on The Totally Football League Show, where she spoke about the biggest talking points surrounding the Championship club at the moment.

To kick off our latest quiz on this past weekend's EFL action, which team earned a 3-0 victory over Championship leaders Reading at the weekend?

After Garry Monk was sacked as Wednesday’s manager earlier this week, Frostick was asked who is likely to replace Monk at the club, to which she gave this reply.

She said: “I still think [Tony] Pulis is probably very much the frontrunner. I mean, obviously, I think Wednesday will play it safe, if you want to call it that, by getting someone who’s got a lot of Championship experience, like recent Championship experience anyway, just given where they are in the table, this might be more of a short-term appointment to the end of the season, doing a ‘keep them up’ and then maybe look at something a bit more long-term.

“From what I understand, Tony Pulis is kind of in advanced talks so [he] seems to be the frontrunner.”

Pulis’ last job in management saw him take over at Middlesbrough back in December 2017 until May 2019, taking charge of 80 matches in which they won 37, drew 20 and lost 23 – finishing in 5th and 7th place in his two seasons at the Riverside Stadium.

Overall, throughout his managerial career, Pulis has taken charge of 243 matches in the Championship, of which he has won 99, drawn 75 and lost 69, winning an accumulated total of 372 points in the process.

TIF Thoughts on Nancy Frostick’s comments on Tony Pulis…

Taking into account the amount of experience Pulis has of managing in the Championship, it seems that it would be a sensible decision from Wednesday to hire him as their new boss, even if it is just on a short-term basis, as Frostick said in the podcast.

With Wednesday currently sitting in the relegation zone of the Championship table with six points after winning just three of their first 11 games of the season (alongside their points deduction), whoever gets appointed as the new manager will have a big job to do to keep the club in the division.
