Paddy Jones was one of the panellists on the latest edition of the Owls Americast podcast, and during the show, he shared some concern over the possibility of new Sheffield Wednesday manager Tony Pulis falling out with the club’s owner and chairman Dejphon Chansiri in the future.

Pulis was appointed as Wednesday’s new manager last Friday, with the 62-year-old taking the reins from ex-Owls boss Garry Monk, who was sacked last week with the Yorkshire club sitting in 23rd place in the Championship table

He took part in his first press conference as manager of Sheffield Wednesday earlier this week, and while sharing his thoughts on the new Owls boss’ press conference during this podcast, Jones stated that he foresees Pulis and Chansiri clashing in the future.

An easy one to kick off our quiz on this past week in the EFL, who was appointed as Sheffield Wednesday's new manager last Friday?

He said: “I think he wants to look at the club holistically, he wants to find the common denominator that is going wrong, whether he’ll be allowed to change things – that’s the problem. It’s the control that Chansiri wants over this club and what he sees as the manager’s role.

“I think that Pulis seems to be, from the first impressions of him, someone that’s going to challenge the chairman. Whether that works out well for him or not is yet to be seen.

“I think he might say to him, ‘look, we need to do this, this and this, and if you don’t, then we’re [done for]’ and Chansiri might [say], ‘okay, bye then.

“This might happen in the next six to nine months – they have a fall-out and Pulis walks out the door, that could happen.

“It’s probably more likely to happen than what I want to happen, which would be that Pulis changes Chansiri’s strategy and influences his plan and working on the club. I do think Pulis could do that and would challenge Chansiri based on what he said in the presser on Monday.”

TIF Thoughts on what Jones had to say about the possibility of Pulis and Chansiri falling out in the future…

During his press conference, Pulis described Chansiri as ‘a very positive man’, while the Owls owner stated that he thinks his club’s new manager ‘is a good coach’, so while it’s very early days, it may be fair to say that there doesn’t seem to be any major warning signs with regard to a future breakdown in the relationship between Pulis and Chansiri as of yet.

However, it seems that Jones is concerned that Pulis’ potential future comments on what he feels the Owls ‘need to do’ could rub Chansiri up the wrong way and given that the new manager did say that he ‘will be as honest as [he] possibly can’ throughout his time at Hillsborough, perhaps there is a chance that could happen.

Only time will tell how this relationship develops and it may be a bit too soon for Wednesday fans to get overly concerned about the possibility of Pulis and Chansiri falling out in the future.
