At the time of writing this, podcasters Jeffrey Paternostro and Justin DeSorgher discussed all of the latest Sheffield Wednesday news on the most recent edition of the Owls Americast podcast and during the show, they spent some time talking about potential replacements for Garry Monk, who was sacked by the club earlier this week

One name that was mentioned by these podcasters as a potential future Owls manager (prior to Tony Pulis’ appointment, which has since been announced) was ex-Wednesday player Ryan Lowe, who is currently the manager of Plymouth Argyle, and DeSorgher shared some excitement over the idea of Lowe taking the reins at Hillsborough, saying:

“He has talked about his influences in football being guys like Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola. He took Bury up, he took Plymouth up, he seems to be exactly what a club like Wednesday should have – a young, dynamic, ‘plays the modern game’ manager.”

TIF Thoughts on what DeSorgher had to say about Lowe…

During his time as manager of Bury, Lowe received praise from 2019/20 Premier League-winning manager Klopp for his preferred style of football.

As his preferred style of play has received high praise in the past and knowing that he has enjoyed plenty of success thus far in his young career as a manager, having helped both Bury and Plymouth to earn promotion from League Two to League One in recent seasons, it may be understandable why DeSorgher wanted to see him in charge of the Owls.

NO

Following their promotion last season, his Plymouth side currently sits in eighth place in the League One table and so perhaps he believes that he can help them to mount another promotion push this term. If so, then maybe he wouldn’t have viewed Sheffield Wednesday as a big step up, given they are sitting second-from-bottom in the division above the one he’s currently managing in.
