Steven Gerrard spent some time talking about Glen Kamara in his press conference following Rangers’ 1-0 UEFA Europa League win over Lech Poznan on Thursday evening.

The Finnish midfielder has featured in 15 of the Gers’ 17 games in all competitions so far this season. He didn’t make an appearance in the Glasgow club’s most recent league game – a 2-0 win over Livingston last Sunday – but he returned to the starting lineup for Thursday’s clash with Poznan and played the full 90 minutes in that game.

How well do you remember Rangers' 2020/21 season so far? We'll start you off with an easy one... Rangers beat Aberdeen 1-0 in the opening gameweek of the Premiership, but which player scored the only goal of the game?

As per WhoScored, the 25-year-old played the most passes (62), made the joint-second-highest number of interceptions (two) and made the joint-second-highest number of tackles (two) of any Gers player in this fixture, which may indicate that he made a relatively significant contribution for Rangers in this game and may explain why Gerrard was full of praise for him in his post-match press conference, saying:

“Glen was outstanding out there from start to finish. Really pleased with him and where he’s at in terms of his form, he’s in a fantastic place. I thought there was a lot of strong performances throughout the group, but Glen was certainly one of the standouts.”

TIF Thoughts on what Gerrard had to say about Kamara…

It’s clear from what he had to say that Gerrard was happy with Kamara’s performance in this clash with Poznan.

Perhaps the Rangers boss won’t be surprised that the Finland international delivered a positive performance in this game, as it may be fair to say that he has been an important member of his squad this term, with Kamara accumulating more minutes than all but three other Gers players in all competitions this season and given that Gerrard was pleased with his performance versus Poznan, maybe his role is unlikely to decrease in importance any time soon.

Gerrard seemingly hasn’t been the only one that has been impressed by Kamara this term, as the £1.08m-rated midfielder, who has been described as a ‘key player’ for the Glasgow club, has reportedly drawn interest from Leeds United, Borussia Dortmund, Everton, Southampton, Lille and Monaco of late. It will be interesting to see if any of those clubs step up their interest in the Gers man, should he continue to perform at his current level.
