Celtic pundit Stevie Mullen has been recently talking about Charly Musonda and his recent fitness problem.

Mullen was a guest on the latest episode of the ‘A Celtic State of Mind’ podcast and the panel discussed multiple issues involving the Parkhead-based club. One topic of discussion was former Celtic man Musonda and his battle against a knee problem. Mullen expressed heartbreak about the player’s situation.

Journalist Kristof Terreur recently reported that Musonda is continuing his recovery from a serious knee operation and doctors have now given him a 20% chance of playing football once again. The journalist confirmed that the former Celtic man is currently in Dubai and he hasn’t given up on his dream yet.

Do you think Musonda will play football again?

The 23-year-old had joined Celtic on loan from Chelsea in January 2018 and he returned to the London-based club at the end of the 2017-18 season (as per Transfermarkt).

Mullen gave his opinion about the Belgian’s situation and said: “Absolutely heartbreaking. He’s obviously been an absolute star as a kid coming through. To get to that age, you’re thinking you’re just ready to make the breakthrough into the big time and all the acclaim and stardom that comes with it – to be hit with that news that your career is finished, that is something that has to be managed as well.

Which of the following clubs has Shane Duffy never played for?

“It is not just his football career that’s finished. That whole part of his life where it’s morning, noon and night, 24 hours, seven-days-a-week athlete, that finishes.”

TIF Thoughts…

During his time at Celtic, Musonda had made eight appearances in all competitions for the club and had picked up one assist. His record for Chelsea’s UEFA Under-19s side was pretty good, as he contributed to six goals in nine appearances for the team. Even for the Chelsea first-team, he had contributed to three goals in seven games.

So while he didn’t score at Celtic, his numbers for other teams show that he was a talented player. It won’t be a good thing if his career ends because of the injury issues but since a 20% chance of a return is still there, we can only hope that Musonda gets back to playing football once again.
