Celtic podcaster Lawrence Connolly has recently made a claim about the future of Ryan Christie.

Connolly was a guest on the latest episode of the ‘A Celtic State of Mind’ podcast and the panel discussed multiple issues involving the Bhoys. They talked about multiple Celtic players and one topic of discussion was Christie. Connolly believes that Christie wants to move to the Premier League in the future.

It was reported last month that Celtic are in discussions with Christie about a potential new contract for the Scotsman. His current contract runs out in the summer of 2022 and Burnley were linked with a move for the midfielder as well. He is currently valued at £5.85m.

Connolly gave his opinion about Christie and he believes that the Scotsman wants a move to the Premier League.

Will Christie join a Premier League club in the future?

He said: “So there’s no Champions League football, which I think they all want to play in. Christie, I think he wants to go to the EPL. He wants to test himself. Stuart Armstrong – big mate of his, you’ve seen him go down there [and] do well. I think Christie probably will be on five times his wages if we went down south. So I’m not going to take that out of consideration for anyone.”

TIF Thoughts…

While Christie didn’t feature in the Old Firm derby as he was in isolation, he has impressed for the Bhoys in the current campaign. He has played 13 games in all competitions so far and has directly contributed to ten goals. In the Premiership, he has played nine games and has scored two goals while picking up five assists (as per Transfermarkt).

Christie has been the club’s highest-performing player in the current campaign and has picked up a rating of 7.73 in the league. It shows how important he is for the Bhoys and because of that, losing him would be a real concern for the Hoops.
