Celtic pundit Paul John Dykes has recently made a claim about Roy Keane and if he can become the manager of Celtic in the future.

Dykes was hosting the latest episode of the ‘A Celtic State of Mind’ podcast and the panel discussed multiple issues involving the club following their 3-3 draw against Aberdeen in the Premiership recently.

The panel talked about the position of Neil Lennon and Dykes believes that former Celtic player Roy Keane will never be offered the managerial job at Parkhead.

Is Roy Keane good enough to manage Celtic?

The Hoops have now failed to win a game in their last three matches in all competitions. Before being held to a draw at Pittodrie, they had lost to AC Milan and Rangers (as per Transfermarkt).

Keane had been at Celtic for a few months during his playing career. He had joined the club on a free transfer after his stint at Manchester United had ended (as per Transfermarkt).

Fellow panellist Kevin Graham had previously expressed concerns that the club were ‘in Roy Keane-Martin O’Neill territory’ regarding the future of Lennon.

Dykes believes that Keane will never be offered the Celtic job. He said: “Well, Roy Keane will never be offered the Celtic job whilst Dermot Desmond’s here. He’s been offered it before, he said no. He won’t be offered it again.”

Starting with an easy one - which club was McGregor loaned out to in the 2013-14 season?

TIF Thoughts…

While Keane does hold a UEFA Pro Licence qualification, he’s had limited experience of being a manager. He managed Sunderland from the summer of 2006 till December 2008. He then managed Ipswich Town from April 2009 till January 2011 (as per Transfermarkt).

Most recently, he was an assistant manager at Nottingham Forest under Martin O’Neill and hasn’t managed a club in over nine years now.

Because of all that, it would seemingly be better if Celtic don’t consider Keane as an option whenever Lennon departs the club in the future.
