Journalist Michael Gannon has recently given his opinion about Celtic star Tom Rogic.

Gannon was a guest on the latest episode of the Record Celtic podcast and the panel discussed many things involving the Parkhead-based club. They also talked about multiple Celtic players and one player that Gannon focused on was Rogic. He believes that while the Australian performed well against Aberdeen, there are concerns regarding his overall fitness.

Rogic hadn’t played in the first few matches of the current campaign and wasn’t even named in the club’s matchday squad for some games. He has made four appearances in all competitions and featured against Aberdeen, grabbing two assists in the game (as per Transfermarkt). Rogic is currently valued at £1.8m.

Gannon believes that the Australian looked tired as he hasn’t played too much football over the last 12 months.

He said: “Tom Rogic, I thought he played quite well at Pittodrie but again, I watched him after the hour mark and the poor guy looked like he was going to keel over. He was completely [tired], it is because he’s not played enough in the last 12 months.”

TIF Thoughts on Michael Gannon’s comments regarding Tom Rogic…

The game against Aberdeen was Rogic’s first start of the season in all competitions and the longest runout that he’s been afforded in a single game in the current campaign. He had come on from the bench against Milan in the UEFA Europa League as well as the two Premiership matches prior to last weekend (as per Transfermarkt).

His last start in a Premiership game came against St. Mirren in March in the last game of the previous season and had an assist to his name in that outing. It has clearly been quite a while since he last started a game and considering that he wasn’t available in the first few games of the current season, one can understand why Rogic might have been looking tired after around 60 minutes against Aberdeen. Perhaps he just needs time to get his fitness back on track.
