Celtic pundit Stevie Mullen has recently criticised Charlie Nicholas for his comments about the club’s business in the summer transfer window.

Mullen was a guest on the latest episode of the ‘A Celtic State of Mind’ podcast and the panel discussed multiple issues involving the Parkhead-based side. Mullen gave his opinion about Nicholas’ recent comments about the business that Celtic did in the summer transfer window. The pundit feels that what Nicholas said is ‘nonsense’.

Which of the following clubs has Shane Duffy never played for?

Nicholas told the Express (via the Daily Record) that Celtic took a ‘cheap’ route to sign a left-back and Neil Lennon hasn’t been given a helping hand by the club in terms of the sort of transfers that he was looking for. Nicholas also believes that there are question marks about certain areas of the Celtic squad.

Mullen aired that he has some serious concerns about Nicholas because of what the former Celtic player said.

He said: “If you’re doing a piece for a paper and you make the piece and it is something that everybody agrees with, you should put it in the bin. If Charlie Nicholas genuinely believes what he wrote… you really couldn’t write that article with pure clarity. It was so much nonsense.”

TIF Thoughts…

Celtic signed Shane Duffy, Diego Laxalt and Mohamed Elyounoussi on loan in the summer transfer window, alongside David Turnbull, Albian Ajeti and Vasilis Barkas, who have joined the club on a permanent basis (as per Transfermarkt).

The Hoops managed to keep hold of Odsonne Edouard, who was linked with a move to the Premier League. Olivier Ntcham was also linked with a switch to England, but he also stayed at Parkhead. Meanwhile, despite the fact that Milan reportedly wanted him, Kristoffer Ajer is still at the club.

So the business that the club did in the summer has increased the depth that Celtic have and that might help Neil Lennon in challenging on all fronts. So fans can only hope that the new signings help Celtic win the title this season to prove Nicholas wrong.
