Pundit Peter Martin has recently criticised Celtic’s Polish striker Patryk Klimala.

Martin was recently hosting the latest episode of PLZ Soccer’s The Football Show and the panel discussed multiple issues involving Scottish football. They also gave their opinion about Celtic’s loss in the Old Firm derby. Martin talked about Celtic’s striker situation and he had stinging criticism for Klimala. He believes that the Polish striker isn’t good enough for Celtic.

Klimala had arrived at Parkhead from Polish club Jagiellonia Bialystok in January 2020 for a fee of £3.60m. He started the game against the Gers and it was only his second Premiership start for the Bhoys.

While talking about Leigh Griffiths, Martin also gave his opinion about Klimala and he believes that the striker isn’t good enough for the Bhoys.

He said: “Leigh Griffiths is unreliable. He may well have his problems off the park but you cannot rely on somebody constantly to come in and just save you as a substitute. He may well get back to full fitness and he may well come into that starting line-up.

“And then you’ve got Klimala, who for me, is not a Celtic player. He’s not at the level that Celtic are looking for.”

TIF Thoughts…

Klimala has made ten appearances in the Premiership this season and he’s scored three goals already. He scored for the club against St. Johnstone recently. In the second half of last season, he came on from the bench only twice in the Premiership and made just one start in the Scottish Cup against Clyde (as per Transfermarkt).

So his game time has increased this season and he’s started to score some goals as well. While he did pick up a disappointing rating of only 5.87 in the Old Firm, his goalscoring tally might suggest that he’s a decent player. Because of that, Martin’s criticism of the striker might be a little harsh.
