Celtic pundit Kevin Graham has recently made a claim about Neil Lennon’s position at the Parkhead-based club.

Graham was a guest on the latest episode of the ‘A Celtic State of Mind’ podcast and the panel discussed multiple issues involving the Bhoys. Graham fears that Celtic might be looking to bring in a new manager on an interim basis until the end of the current season.

The Hoops recently failed to beat Aberdeen as they were held to a 3-3 draw at Pittodrie this weekend. Before that, they had failed to beat Milan in the group stages of the UEFA Europa League and lost to Rangers in the Old Firm derby.

Do you think Celtic will appoint an interim manager?

Graham fears that Celtic might opt for a short-term fix in the managerial department and is worried if the Celtic board is thinking about hiring a new manager.

He said: “My fear is that there’ll be another short-term fix. Because my way of thinking was [it] doesn’t matter what happens this year – whether we win the league or we don’t win the league – there was going to be a drop off the cliff. Because 11 doesn’t matter the same as 10. 10 is the magic number. [If] we don’t get 10, I think everything goes to pot.

“If the board are sitting there just now, contemplating making a change, what’s their thinking? Is their thinking just from now [until] the end of the season? That’s my worry. I’m worried we’re in Roy Keane-Martin O’Neill territory.”

TIF Thoughts…

Lennon himself was initially appointed as the interim manager at Celtic following the departure of Brendan Rodgers. It might be a sign of the fact that the Celtic board doesn’t back away from appointing managers on an interim basis.

Having said that, there are many games left to play this season. Because of that, Lennon might have some time to prove that he’s the right man for the job, despite Celtic’s recent poor run of form. He can only hope that things improve soon enough and he stays in the job for longer.
