Celtic podcaster Kevin Tait has recently made a claim about the club’s youngster Jeremie Frimpong.
Tait was a guest on the latest episode of the ‘A Celtic State of Mind’ podcast and the panel discussed multiple issues involving Celtic following their 2-0 loss to the Gers in the Old Firm derby.
Tait talked about Frimpong and he believes that the Dutchman shouldn’t escape criticism just because he’s still young.
Frimpong started Celtic’s game against Rangers. Two goals from Gers defender Connor Goldson, though, saw Celtic lose 2-0 and it was also their first league defeat of the campaign so far.
Tait believes that while Frimpong didn’t have too many options to pass to, he was refusing to take players on in the game.

He said: “The only defence I could offer Frimpong was [that] he didn’t have many options.
“To me, as a Celtic player, picking the ball up where Frimpong usually picks it up, he should have two or three options and he never had that today. His option was to take the man on and he just pretty much refused it.
“So, I’d start to look at some of the players that probably should have been shown for Frimpong but I don’t think he should escape it just because he’s a young player.
“He’s got to go away and he’s got to sort of learn from [it]. He’s got to probably step up to the plate.”

The 19-year-old Frimpong has made 10 Premiership appearances this season and has scored once while picking up one assist as well. In the league, he has picked up a rating of 6.83. In the Old Firm, the youngster picked up a rating of 6.51 (as per WhoScored).
Only three Celtic players picked up better ratings than Frimpong on Saturday and that shows that his performance was decent. So, because of that, Tait’s criticism of him seems a bit unjustified.
