The Athletic reporter Tim Spiers has recently discussed the future of Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White.

Wolves’ 20-year-old Englishman is set to spend the 2020/21 season on loan with Swansea City in the Championship (per Transfermarkt).

So far this season, Gibbs-White has made four appearances in the second tier in which he has scored one goal and provided one assist for Steve Cooper’s side (per WhoScored).

Over the four outings, the middleman has earned an impressive 7.11/10 average rating which has made him the Swans’ seventh-best performer.

In the latest episode of The Athletic’s The Molineux View podcast, Spiers discussed Gibbs-White and aired how he saw the youngster’s future going with the Old Gold.

To kick off this quiz on Joao Moutinho, what squad number does the midfielder currently wear for Wolves?

He said: “I would say that, unlike previous loans that Nuno [Espirito Santo] has overseen in the past couple of years, where it’s spelled the end of their Wolves career, this is different.

“Morgan’s coming back to be a Wolves player if he can have a good season, which he’s on target to do at the moment.

“We look at Wolves changing their style, we look at them maybe needing a No 10 if they go four-at-the-back in the future, maybe.

“I think if Morgan can replicate what he’s done at the start of the season over the rest of the season, he can come back with confidence and look to get into this Wolves, maybe not first XI, but certainly first change off the bench and part of the squad rotation.

“That’s how much talent he’s got. You ask anybody who’s coached him at academy level, they’ll say he’s the best that they’ve seen in the last 15 years – that’s how good he is and can be.”

TIF Thoughts…

As can be seen in what Spiers had to say, the journalist seems to believe that Gibbs-White can still be a first-team player for Wolves in the future despite being loaned out this season.

Would you like to see Morgan Gibbs-White given a run in the first team after he returns from his loan?

Yes, he's got potential

Last season, the midfielder made seven Premier League appearances for Wolves in which he earned a weak 6.10/10 average rating.

So, hopefully, after his loan spell with the Swans, the Englishman can deliver better performances for the Old Gold in the top flight.
